How to create a new Phantom wallet and import existing wallets into Phantom.
Download Phantom for Desktop
Step 1: Visit the Phantom website and select your browser.
Step 2: Follow the steps in your respective extension store. After installing, you should see the Phantom open in a new tab.
Note: Ensure you are downloading the OFFICIAL browser extension. Always download the latest version directly linked from the Phantom.app web page.
Setting Up Your Desktop Wallet
New desktop users:
Step 1: Select “Create New Wallet”
Step 2: Create a unique password to secure and access your wallet. The password will be used to only protect the Phantom wallet(s) you see in your current browser profile.
Step 3: Be sure to store/save your password in a secure location, such as a trusted password manager, then press “Continue”
Step 4: You’ll now be shown the 20 words that make up your “Secret Recovery Phrase.” The words that make up your Secret Recovery Phrase are the most important part of your new wallet. As Phantom states:
- Whoever has access to your Secret Recovery Phrase will have access to the wallet’s funds.
- If you lose your Secret Recovery Phrase, you will lose access to your wallet and its funds.
- The team at Phantom never have access to your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Phantom team members will never ask you for your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Recovery Phrase is the only way to recover your wallet.
Step 5: Secure your your Secret Recovery Phrase in a location only you have access to, such as a vault, then select “Continue” to proceed.
Existing desktop users:
Step 1: Click on “I already have a wallet”
Step 2: Enter your Secret Recovery Phrase to restore your wallets.
Once you have entered your Secret Recovery Phrase, you’ll need to create a new password to access your wallet in the future.
Step 3: Enter a unique password, save it in a safe location and select “Continue”
Accessing your Browser Wallet
- Find the Phantom icon in the top right-hand side of your browser toolbar.
- If you don’t see it, click the puzzle piece icon 🧩 to see your full list of extensions, including Phantom.
- If you wish to keep your Phantom wallet in the browser extension bar, click the pin 📌 icon to make it easier to locate in the future.
Download Phantom for Mobile
Phantom is available on iOS (Apple) and Android devices.
Step 1: Visit your device’s app store from the official website Phantom.app to ensure that you will be directed to the OFFICIAL Phantom mobile application.
Step 2: Follow the steps to download and install the application on your device.
Step 3: Open the app and progress through the Phantom onboarding screens to set up a new wallet.
Setting up Phantom for Mobile
New mobile users:
Step 1: Select “Create New Wallet”
Step 2: Enable biometric security at the “Protect your Wallet” to use your fingerprint or facial recognition as your access key. Phantom strongly recommends turning this feature on.
Step 3: You will be presented with your “Secret Recovery Phrase.” The words that make up your Secret Recovery Phrase are the most important part of your new wallet. As Phantom states:
- Whoever has access to your Secret Recovery Phrase will have access to the wallet’s funds.
- If you lose your Secret Recovery Phrase, you will lose access to your wallet and its funds.
- We at Phantom never have access to your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Phantom team members will never ask you for your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the only way to recover your wallet.
Step 4: Secure your your Secret Recovery Phrase in a location only you have access to, such as a vault, then select “Continue” to proceed.
Existing mobile users:
Step 1: Click on “I already have a wallet”
Step 2: Enable biometric authentication (if applicable)
Step 3: Enter your Secret Recovery Phrase to restore your wallets.
Step 4: Click on “Get Started” to start using Phantom
IMPORTANT: Always be sure to store your “Secret Recovery Phrase” in a secure location, and never show it to anyone. It is the one and only key to recover your wallet.
